The Obligatory ‘Pardon the Dust’ Posting

Welcome to my new blog. Please don’t get attached to any of the furnishings; they’re all rented and will be going back as soon as I get my real stuff in place.

Setting up a blog is remarkably easy, and yet also difficult. Installing the software and so forth took only a few minutes, even though I chose to host this blog on a paid server account, rather than use Blogger again. Granted, there were a couple of hiccups, but I’ve been working with computers long enough to decipher a few error messages and make fixes. So getting to the point where something would display at the web address I chose was pretty easy.

But now comes the hard part. Ahead lies all that time tweaking the format to look the way I want, and adding the links that I want, and hardest of all, actually writing posts. Although WordPress, the open-source blog engine I’m using, has hordes of devotees creating ‘themes’, the graphical formats that lend a page pizazz, there will still be modifications required. For now, I’m just leaving the boring default settings ‘onstage’ while I’m in the back taking the digital saws and hammers to the new set.

Coming soon, a post about why I’m setting up this blog anyway.
