Heckuva Job, Bushie.

by Paul on March 14, 2008

It seems like every day we hear about a new measure by which the George W. Bush administration has damaged the country, if not directly than through malign neglect and inaction. It’s hard to remember that, when they took office, we had a budget surplus, a relatively sound economy, and of course, the respect of the civilized world.

Today’s installment of the Cavalcade of Bush Era Accomplishments:

Gold rose above $1,000 an ounce for the first time as credit-market turmoil spurred demand for bullion as a haven from falling stocks and the dollar.

Silver, platinum and palladium also advanced as the dollar dropped below 100 yen for the first time since 1995 and to a record low against the euro.
